How to properly care for your watch?

watches

Hardly anyone would argue that caring for your watch not only allows you to keep its initial beauty for a long time, but also makes it possible to significantly extend the life of the accessory. And since a good watch is not a luxury, it is worth paying attention to some peculiarities of care for such devices.

Obviously, the first and basic rule for the use of any wristwatch is the careful observance of the manufacturer’s recommendations for the use of the product. As a rule, they are all described in the instructions, which is supplied to any branded model. That is, if the description of the watch RG512 G50191.203 states that its water resistance is 3 ATM, then you can safely walk in the rain, but do not try your luck taking a bath with the accessory.

Factors which have a negative effect on the precision of a watch movement
Regardless of the type of movement and model, the majority of watches react extremely negatively to:

depressurization of the case;
getting wet inside the watch;
sudden changes in temperature.

Among the main threats that can affect the performance of a quartz movement, you should also mention heating and electromagnetic radiation. Of course, today there are models with protection against magnetic fields, such as the CASIO GA-201-1AER. However, if this property is not mentioned among the technical specifications of the product, it is better to keep it away from refrigerators, microwave ovens, cell phones and other devices-sources of EM radiation.

As for mechanical watches, they are the most afraid of all kinds of dirt. Even the most common dust that gets into the movement can affect the accuracy of the movement, so it is highly recommended that you take your watch to a workshop or special service center at least once a year for preventive cleaning of the internal parts. Strong shocks and jolts can also cause malfunctions, so you should remove your mechanical watch when you are doing heavy physical work or engaging in sports.

How to care for the glass and the strap
Modern models of quality brand-name watches, as a rule, are equipped with a shatterproof and resistant to mechanical deformation glasses (mineral or sapphire). They perfectly protect the dial from damage and do not require special maintenance. Unless rain or especially sea water is spilt on the glass, the glass can be wiped with a dense fleece. It is only necessary to keep in mind that in the case of a crack on the glass, it is advisable to replace it as soon as possible, because such a defect endangers the functioning of the internal mechanism.

In order to prolong the life of the leather, textile or rubber strap, remember that these materials do not tolerate:

dirt;
moisture;
heat.

Leather and rubber straps should not be dried in the scorching sun or on a radiator – this can cause cracking and cracking. When in contact with water, it is better to dry these products and treat them with special care products, which will keep the shine and elasticity of the material for a long time.
