Maintenance rules for quartz watches

watches

Quartz watches, unlike mechanical watches, do not require daily winding. Nevertheless, it does require constant, albeit uncomplicated, maintenance. Every five years, for example, it is advisable to take your quartz watch to a nearby watchmaker for maintenance, where it will be cleaned, lubricated, its parts replaced and other repairs (if necessary). Quartz watches are not very demanding in themselves, but they do require regular battery replacement.

We recommend the following rules for taking care of your quartz watch:

  • read the instructions that come with it – there are almost certainly some specific care features for this particular model of quartz watch: follow them
  • the certificate of the technical product contains a list of certified centers and repair shops of the watch manufacturer (it is better to deliver it exactly there or to any professional watchmaker’s shop where they can check and adjust the rate precision, replace some details that have deteriorated, restore the exterior and do other work)
  • it is necessary to change batteries before they are completely worn out – otherwise it is possible that the battery element will corrode and leak, disrupting the work of the quartz watch mechanism.
  • it is better to have the batteries changed in a watch-shop. This is particularly important for water-resistant watches that need to be checked for water resistance after the battery has been replaced.
  • protect your watch from extreme temperatures, high or low temperatures and do not leave your quartz watch in rooms that are too hot or too cold.
  • the most fragile part of your watch is its glass, in case of cracks, chips, immediately contact a watchmaker to replace the glass, because the slightest dust and particles of dirt can disrupt the operation of the clock mechanism, disable it and bring down the accuracy, you must replace the glass.
  • do not wear your quartz watch when visiting saunas and baths because two dangerous factors can affect it simultaneously: high temperature and high humidity.
  • take your quartz watch to a watchmaker to have it checked at least once every two years – check the tightness of its case and change the seals (if they are broken).
  • do not leave your watch near sources of electromagnetic or magnetic fields or near strong vibrations. Most quartz watches do not have special magnetic protection and may go faster or slower under the influence of the above factors.

Adhere to these simple rules and we are sure that your watch will serve you well and for a long time!
