What is the difference between a man’s wristwatch and a woman’s wristwatch?

watches

There are quite a few differences between male and female watches. And some of them are related to anatomical features of our species. Men, as a rule, are bigger than women. And therefore men’s watches, again, as a rule, are bigger and more massive than women’s.

The size and weight of watches are determined not only by the size and metal capacity of their cases, but also by the peculiarities of watch movements. For example, practically no women’s watches with automatic winding are produced – additional elements of construction increase both the size and weight of the whole device.

The same is true for straps or bracelets. In general, men’s watches are about 1.5-2 times more massive than women’s watches. The gain in weight is mainly due to the thickness of the strap (bracelet) and case of the watch. Smaller dimensions make a watch look more elegant.

Design is the second distinctive feature. Men’s models can have very rough, chopped features. While women’s watches are always elegant and refined. If the men’s watches are designed to emphasize the prosperity of the owner, his social status, the women’s – elegance and grace of the lady’s hand.

But the color of watches and straps (bracelets) is not considered by professional designers as an indicator of whether they are for women or for men. At the same time, men often stick to the classic discreet colors, abandoning the bright and attractive devices.

Women choose devices that would make them stand out in the crowd, i.e. they view watches more as decoration than as a practical device, as men do. Hence the following difference:

men are more demanding to the stuffing of the device, its functionality, the accuracy of the movement, but what alloy the case is made of is not so important
Women do not care about the stuffing, but the case must be made of precious materials, and also decorated with semi-precious and precious stones.

Women often choose elegant but fragile watches. Men are more rational in their choice, preferring solid and reliable mechanisms that can withstand quite a heavy blow.

In the end, all this is reflected in the repair of women’s and men’s watches. Women’s and men’s watches are often repaired to correct visible defects, while men’s are repaired to improve accuracy and adjust the movement. Men, in general, are more attentive to their watches.
